A young app in one of the Shopify App Store's most crowded categories, with a focused feature set and plans priced below most of its rivals. Here's why Extendsell caught our attention.
On Our Radar: Extendsell, a New Upsell App With the Pricing to Take Market Share
At BestAppify we track every app on the Shopify App Store daily. Most new apps in a crowded category arrive quietly and stay that way. Every so often one shows up with a combination that makes us start watching it more closely. Extendsell is one of them.
It's an upsell and cross-sell app that launched in October 2026. That category is hard to break into: our October crawl counted 1,170 live apps in it, and a small group of leaders hold most of the reviews. A new app needs a real reason for merchants to switch or choose it first. Extendsell has three.
Reason one: the pricing
Extendsell prices by your store's total monthly orders, and every plan includes every feature. The full details are on its pricing page.
| Your monthly orders | Extendsell plan |
|---|---|
| Up to 100 | Free |
| 101 to 500 | $8 a month |
| 501 to 1,000 | $15 a month |
| Over 1,000 | $20 a month |
There are no per-order or per-upsell fees, no commission on the revenue its offers bring in, unlimited offers and impressions, and a 30-day free trial.
Put that next to the market. In our roundup of the best Shopify apps for raising average order value, the median entry price across 166 apps was $9.99 a month, and the leading bundle apps started at $14.99 to $19. Extendsell's paid plans start at $8, and its highest plan costs about what many of its rivals charge to get started. Several of the apps it competes with also charge more as revenue or bundle sales grow, which Extendsell doesn't.
That matters more than it looks. When BestAppify grouped 220 one- and two-star reviews in this category by theme, unexpected charges were the biggest complaint, at 25%. An app that is cheaper and easy to predict answers both the price question and the trust question at once. In a category where merchants already know what upsell apps do, that's how a newcomer wins installs from established names. (Our post on what Shopify apps cost explains the pricing models in more detail.)
Reason two: features that cover the jobs that matter
Extendsell doesn't try to do everything. It covers the four offers that do most of the work of raising order value, and it does them carefully:
- Frequently bought together with stepped discounts. The discount grows with each extra item, and shoppers can tick products on and off before adding the set to cart, with the price updating as they go. It's a small detail that makes a bundle feel like the shopper's choice.
- Product add-ons with quick view. Shoppers pick variants and open product details without leaving the page.
- Related products, hand-picked by the merchant.
- One-click post-purchase upsells. After payment, one click adds an item to the same order with the saved payment method. Because it runs after payment, it can't cost the merchant the original sale. It works with Shopify Payments.
A few things around those stood out to us:
- 10 languages already. Extendsell's storefront widgets and admin work in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Swedish and Danish. It's rare for an app this young to be ready for stores selling across Europe and Japan.
- No theme code. Offers are placed from inside the app, and uninstalling leaves nothing behind.
- Looks native. Widgets pick up the store's fonts, colours and buttons, and the Extendsell team handles custom styling on request.
- Analytics per offer: views, clicks, conversions and the value each offer adds.
Reason three: a human setup
Support was the second biggest complaint in the category's low-star reviews, at 20%. Extendsell includes a free one-to-one setup call on every plan, including the free one, so a person from the team helps each merchant build their first offers. Merchants who prefer to set up on their own get step-by-step guides for each offer type in the Extendsell help center. For a new app, it's also a fast way to learn what merchants need, which is usually what separates the apps that grow from the ones that stall.
Why we're watching it
Put together, Extendsell has the profile we look for in a new app with room to grow: a clear price advantage in a category where price is the top complaint, a focused feature set that already includes things like multilingual widgets, and a setup model built around trust. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday weeks away, it's arriving at the moment merchants are choosing their upsell tools for the busiest season of the year.
We'll keep tracking Extendsell's rankings and reviews in BestAppify and report back on how it does.
Our take at BestAppify: if you want bundles, add-ons and post-purchase upsells at a price you can work out from your order count, Extendsell is worth a look now. Visit Extendsell or install it from Extendsell on the Shopify App Store. It's free for stores with up to 100 orders a month.
