Building Shopify apps?Bestappify for developers

Get paid $100–$150 to talk about the apps you already use

Shopify app teams need to hear from people who actually run stores. Thirty minutes on a video call, no preparation, and you are paid whether or not you like what they show you.

Research call

$100

30 minutes

An app team is building something and wants to know whether it solves a problem you actually have. Nobody is selling you anything.

What they will ask

  • How you handle a specific job today — returns, bundles, reviews, whatever their app touches
  • What you tried before, and why you stopped using it
  • A walk through a screen or prototype, with you saying what is confusing
  • What would have to be true for you to switch

Sales call

$150

30 minutes

An app team wants to show you their app and hear why you would or would not use it. It is a pitch, and we label it as one.

What they will ask

  • A demo of what they have built
  • Direct questions about your stack and what you pay for it
  • Your honest reaction — including “this is not for us”, which is a useful answer
  • No obligation to install anything, ever

How it works

  1. 1

    Tell us about your store

Your store, your role, roughly what you turn over, and which kinds of app you actually use. It takes about three minutes and there is nothing to install.

  2. 2

    We check you are real

We look at your store before approving you. That check is the reason app teams pay for these calls at all — and the reason we cannot accept everybody.

  3. 3

We email you when something fits

Only when a call genuinely matches your store. You can say no to any of them, and saying no does not affect future invitations.

  4. 4

    Take the call, get paid

Thirty minutes on a video call. Payment is sent after it, at the amount agreed before it — that figure never changes afterwards.

Who app teams ask for

Store owners and founders

You decide what gets installed and what gets removed.

Ecommerce and retention managers

You live in the apps every day and know where they break.

Agencies and freelancers

You have set up the same category of app across a dozen stores.

Shopify Plus operators

Most in demand, and usually the highest-paid calls.

What we won't pretend

  • This is not a regular income. A good match might come up once a quarter, not once a week. Treat it as being paid properly for something occasional, not as a side job.
  • You have to actually run a Shopify store. Or work on one — agency, freelance, in-house. App teams are paying for an operator's opinion, and we check. There is no version of this where you take calls about a store you do not work on.
  • We do not accept everyone. We turn down applications, and it is usually nothing personal — it is that no app team is currently asking for stores like yours.
  • Sales calls are labelled as sales calls. You will always know which kind you are accepting before you accept it. We will never book a pitch and call it research.
  • You are paid for showing up, not for agreeing. Say the app is bad if it is bad. Critical calls are the ones app teams learn from, and there is no rating that punishes you for it.

There is a second way to earn here

Taking calls pays once per call. If you recommend apps regularly — to clients, in a community, in your own content — app developers also pay commission on referrals that convert. The two are unrelated and you can do both.

Two fields are required. The rest is what app teams filter on, so filling them in gets you matched sooner — but skip anything you would rather not answer.

We open it before approving anyone. That check is why app teams pay for these calls.

Kinds of app you actually use

Pick as many as apply. This is the single thing that decides which calls you get invited to.

Preference only — we never ask for an account number or payment details here. We ask for those when there is a payment to send you.

No account, no password, and no newsletter. We only email you about calls.
